The CCS Marching Units began in 1987 as a special musical performance for the Annual CCS Open House on the San Leandro campus. It consisted of the Drum and Bell Corps, the Flag Corps and The Drill Team. The following spring, the Drill Team began performing in local parades and quickly became known for their acrobatic spins and throws with imitation rifles.

The Drum and Bell Corps and Flag Corps were added to the Marching Units that fall, and they also caught the attention of crowds and judges with their unque blend of sight and sound. The Color Guard and Banner Unit were added in later years to the Marching Units as a means of increasing participation and introducing the Drill Team, Drum & Bell Corps, and Flag Corps for their performances.

They have been invited to perform for various local and civic events, including a special performance for the Consul General of Taiwan, appearances at Santa Clara Vanguard's Precision West Drum Corps show, and at Disneyland Park on three occasions.

This year marks a dramatic change in the Marching Units as the focus shifts back to the Drill Team with the introduction of the Drum Line in place of the Drum and Bell Corps and Flag Corps. Students in grades 6th to 12th grade are invited to participate in the tradition of the CCS marching Units every Tuesday and Thursday after school. Contact Dr. Alan Chew if you are interested in joining.
