A Note from CCS Administration
Studies show there is a decline in literacy
in our country. Regularity and choice are key in improving literacy.
The Accelerated Reader (AR) program allows students to choose
reading material and to earn points upon passing a quiz after
completion of the book. As a means to promote independent reading
and a desire to read, students in grades 6-12, regardless of
what their reading level may be, are allowed to choose books
below their reading level, but no lower than grade 3.9. If a
student passes the AR test, he earns the full point value of
the test. A passing score varies depending upon the reading
level of the book; generally, a score of 60-70% is passing.
The new Accelerated Reader, version 6.3, is here!
An updated version of AR has been installed
at CCS. The new version assesses the reading level and point
value of AR books more accurately, providing parents and teachers
a better sense of the student's reading level. An updated AR
reading list is now available. Please note that grade levels
and points may have changed within the same book. |
